Alimtype History
Alimtype Surgical Instruments was founded by Mr Colin Trewavis in 1983 with the purpose of providing high quality surgical instruments and to offer a first class instrument repair service.
Colin, having spent his entire career in the surgical instrument making industry has achieved a very high standing in the medical field. He has a sound background in the area of instrument technology being trained at R.M.I.T Melbourne and later spending five years working in their physics department. Further studies included physics and anatomy with the observance of many surgical procedures to provide an insight into the needs of the surgeon.

The dynamic and energetic team at Alimtype is now headed by Colin’s son, Mr Stuart Trewavis, a second generation instrument maker who like Colin has spent his entire career in the instrument making field. Stuart commenced his training in the early 1990’s as an apprentice instrument maker receiving valuable knowledge and skills whilst being trained by his father Colin. Since then Stuart has continued his training in all facets of the company and now serves as Managing Director.
